Course Objectives:

Early oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) diagnosis is critical for improving the prognosis and treatment outcome. Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMDs) are a group of mucosal disorders that may precede the diagnosis of OSCC. The majority of these OPMDs may not progress to OSCC but rather represent oral lesions/disorders in which cancer development is more likely than in their clinically normal mucosa. The clinical management of OPMD consists of biopsying for risk stratification and lifelong surveillance. This presentation aims to discuss the role of minimally invasive optical imaging and brush biopsy as tools for risk assessment, biopsy site selection of OPMDs during initial evaluation, and subsequent surveillance.”
